How will the Ukraine conflict affect tourism?
After the hardest 2 years in history (as far as tourism in the Balearic Islands is concerned) and when we all saw the light after an eternal immobilizing pandemic, now comes the conflict in Ukraine.
Another new threat to keep us in an unprecedented endemic economic crisis, but there is still hope for a good summer season in 2022 in Ibiza.
Despite the sadness that comes from knowing that there is a senseless invasion in Ukraine, life must continue its course, we cannot and must not repeat the mistakes made during the pandemic, life must continue as it always did.
We believe that tourists will understand that we should not block ourselves and stop enjoying because there are conflicts or pandemics, so we would never leave home and that is not life, that is death in life. A life ruled by fear and blockage is not a real life.
The predictions are not clear regarding the tourist evolution of summer 2022 in Ibiza and Formentera. Events are happening at a frenetic pace on a global scale, at the beginning of the year the Omicron variant monopolized all the news for weeks throwing many people into panic, then in a matter of a few weeks the curve descended and the pressure was greatly relaxed media with the pandemic issue, at that time, a breeze of optimism flooded the faces of the Balearic businessmen, including ourselves, but the joy did not last long.
The former member of the KGB, Mr. Putin decided to invade Ukraine and now this war between Slavs creates uncertainty again for our tourist expectations.
Despite everything, we must not lose hope, we will continue to pray that the conflict in Ukraine ends as soon as possible and the waters of the world economy return to their normal course.
Let us hope that the great oligarchs and world lobbies do not continue to concoct panic storms to enrich themselves with their business of fear.
